Bengaluru: A day after the high court dismissed the petition filed by BJP MLA Byrathi Suresh, seeking to quash the FIR registered against him in connection with the murder of a history-sheeter, the court directed him to appear before the police. The lawmaker presented himself before the investigating officer at Bharatinagar police station Saturday afternoon. The police grilled him for over 3.5 hours.After giving his statement, Basavaraj addressed the media outside the station, saying he was asked to appear again on July 23. "I was asked to make a statement in connection with the murder case, and so I have appeared. I have answered all the questions. I have made it clear that I have no role in the murder, nor do I have any connection. Also, I don't know who Jagadish is," he said. Jagadish is the prime suspect arrested by police in the case.A senior officer saod, "Earlier this Feb, Shivaprakash registered a criminal case against Jagadish, accusing him of forcing and threatening him to transfer a property into his (Jagadish's) name. Also, Shivaprakash approached the then city police commissioner B Dayananda, seeking police intervention in the matter. The matter was referred to an ACP of another division. We would like to question Basavaraj in that matter too.
