Lucknow, July 19 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court's Lucknow bench has commented that the Uttar Pradesh government cannot stop the religious customs prevalent under normal circumstances due to small reasons, especially when these practices promote cultural harmony in the society. The court made this comment in the order of annual Jeth Mela at the Dargah of Syed Salar Masood Ghazi in Bahraich on Friday. The court said that during the arrangements made under the interim order passed on May 17 in the case, peace and harmony remained, so the apprehensions of the state government regarding organizing Urs or fair was not correct. A division bench of Justice AR Masudi and Justice Subhash Vidyarthi gave this order on a petition filed on behalf of Waqf No 19 Dargah Sharif, Bahraich and others. In the petition, the Dargah Sharif had challenged the order of the District Magistrate denying permission to hold the annual Urs. After hearing this, the court reserved its decision on May 17. At the same time, traditional activities were allowed to continue. It was argued by the state government that the area around Dargah Sharif is extremely sensitive, it is adjacent to the open boundary of Nepal. There is a strong possibility of infiltration of anti -national and suspected elements in view of the horrific attack on tourists in Pahalgam and the crowds coming from the Indo -Nepal border. It was also said by the state that these days there are stressful situations with Pakistan. In such a situation, during emergency or incident it will not be possible to completely blackout the fair area due to the presence of the crowd, which can make administrative challenges difficult. The court, while disposing of the petition, said in its order that the state government had denied the permission of Urs on the basis of the circumstances and on the basis of confidential reports but now that order has become ineffective, as the fair period is over. The interim system passed by the court in which the holding of religious customs was allowed has abolished the apprehensions of the state government. The court also directed the Management Committee of Dargah Sharif to manage Urs and fair effectively in future and CCTV cameras should be installed at entry places and other important places.
