New Delhi: Another case of a wife along with her lover conspiring and killing her husband has come to light. The incident is from Delhi's Uttam Nagar. 36-year-old Karan Dev was allegedly drugged with sleeping pills and then electrocuted by his wife and her lover Rahul, who is also Dev's paternal cousin. According to NDTV, on 13 July 2025, Dev was rushed to Mata Rooprani Maggo Hospital after what his family attributed to be an accidental electrocution. Doctors declared him dead. Initially, the family raised no suspicion and even requested that no post-mortem be conducted. Police Insist On Autopsy However, cops insisted on an autopsy given the victim's relatively young age and the circumstances of his death. The body was sent to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital in Harinagar for post-mortem examination. Days later, a chat retrieved from Shushmita's social media turned out to be the breakthrough in the investigation. The deceased's younger brother, Kunal Dev, discovered a shocking chat between Sushmita and Rahul discussing the murder plot. Kunal preserved the chat on video and submitted it to the police on July 16. The chat proved to be an important evidence in the case. Explosive Chat Discussing Murder Plot She wrote to Rahul: "15 tablet hot h, ye kahani samne bata dungi," the chat read. Which translates to "There are 15 tablets, will tell this story infront of everyone." The chat shows Rahul reacting "Ok" to the conversation. Shushmita then asks Rahul, "Ek baar ye chik karo ka kitanee der mein deth honee chaahie davaee khaane ka," which translates to, "Check how much time it takes for death to occur after consuming the medicine." "Laga lo khane khaye isko 3 hrs ho gye h," which translates to,"Its been around 3 hours that he has had food," Shushmita said. Rahul then asks Shumita to think about Electrocuting Karan, to which Shushmita asks, "Shock k liye bol rahe ho." To which Rahul responds,"Hmm" Shushmita then says, "Main soch rahi thi k dawal se hi kaam ho jata, Isliye to itni der ruki," which translates to, "I was thinking the medicines would be enough, thats the reason i waited for so long." The duo wanted to make Karan's death appear accidental by electrocuting him after drugging him. When the sedatives did not show immediate results in unconsciousness, they decided to administer an electric shock -- allegedly by applying current to Karan's finger -- while he was still sedated. They wanted to attribute his death to an electrical accident in the house, the report stated. Both Accused Confessed To Crime After Kunal submitted the chat evidence to the police, an FIR was filed and both the accused were called for interrogation. Both the accused reportedly confessed of the crime during interrogation. Slapped & Abused Reportedly, during her confession, Sushmita claimed that Karan had slapped and abused her a day before Karwa Chauth and often demanded money from her.
