RPP accuse GoI representative AK Mishra of raising false hope

Dimapur, July 18 (MExN): The Rising People's Party (RPP) has criticised the frequent visits of the Government of India's representative for Naga political talks, AK Mishra, alleging that he has "nothing to offer except to raise false hope" and urging him to refrain from further visits to Nagaland. In a press statement issued on July 18, the RPP said, "The GoI's Representative AK Mishra's recent visit has managed to excite no one. The Rising People's Party would like to sincerely request AK Mishra to stop visiting the state since he has nothing to offer except to raise false hope." Taking a sharp tone, the party stated that an "astute person like Mr. Mishra should excuse himself from making monthly trips to the state just to excite some gullible minds because neither he nor the GoI has any intention of resolving the Naga issue." The RPP further alleged that Mishra's visits are a waste of public resources. "He should stop wasting Indian taxpayer's money. His worthless trips to the state also wastes the meagre resources of the state; with the entire state machinery at his beck and call every time he comes calling," it stated. The party also questioned the intent behind Mishra's engagements, remarking, "AK Mishra should not create the impression that he is 'doing something'. He and his predecessors have managed to keep the factions excited for decades but his latest bone throwing is at another level - the so-called Common Execution Plan, apparently integrating the FA and the AP, is once again exciting the factions but the general public is amused." Criticising the government's handling of the Naga peace process, the statement recalled the actions of former interlocutor RN Ravi. "After throwing the 'Framework Agreement' into the dustbin, Mr. R.N. Ravi conjured the 'Agreed Position' for 'Nagas of Nagaland', thus craftily creating internal fissures within the Naga family. Again Ravi's tactical declaration in 2019 that 'Naga peace-talks is officially over' was the masterstroke which completely divided the Naga society," it said. According to the RPP, this division allowed Naga civil society organisations, political groups and intellectuals to remain preoccupied "over the cakes called FA and AP ... until Mr. Mishra conjured another trick, now integrating the FA and AP!" "The art of doing something and nothing at the same time will keep AK Mishra seemingly busy till he is replaced by another very busy man," the statement concluded.
