Delhi/Ghaziabad: A major change has been made in the traffic system for the Kanwar Yatra in Delhi-NCR. A large number of Shiva devotees, known as Kanwariyas, are passing through Ghaziabad. It is expected that the arrival of Dak Kavad will also begin on Saturday night. To ensure smooth traffic flow in Ghaziabad, several routes have been diverted, while many have been made one-way. The biggest change has been implemented on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. According to the information received, the Delhi Meerut Expressway will be made one-way from 10 pm on July 19. Vehicles coming and going towards Delhi will operate on the same side. The movement of normal vehicles will continue on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway's lane from Delhi to Meerut. While the lane coming from Meerut to Delhi has been completely reserved for Kanwariyas. Traffic police personnel have been deployed at various points to avoid any kind of chaos on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. "One lane of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway was initially planned to be closed for Kanwariyas from July 17. However, it will now be closed from 10 pm on July 19. Currently, the number of Kanwariyas is low, but it is expected to increase from the night of July 19. Primarily, Kanwariyas use the Delhi-Meerut Expressway in large numbers. About 50 kilometres of this expressway fall under Ghaziabad. Light vehicles will continue to ply on one lane, but the expressway will be completely closed for heavy vehicles," said Sachchidanand, ADCP Traffic.
New Delhi/Noida, Jun 27 (PTI) End-of-life vehicles detected at fuel stations or found parked at public places will be impounded and a penalty of Rs 10,000 imposed on four-wheeler owners and Rs 5,000 on two-wheeler owners starting July 1, officials said on Friday.
