Hyderabad: Four friends were killed on the spot and another was seriously injured after their car rammed a lorry parked by the roadside on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Adibatla in the early hours of Friday. The group was returning to Moinabad from Yadagirigutta. Ibrahimpatnam ACP K.V.M. Raju said the accident occurred between the Pedda Amberpet and Bongulur stretches of the ORR. "CCTV footage shows the car entering the highway at 2.50 am. A Dial 100 alert was received at 3.06 am reporting the crash," he said. The deceased were identified as Guguloth Janardhan, 45, a labourer from Mahbubabad; Chandulal, a driver from Warangal, Kavali Balaraju, 40, a chicken shop owner from Elkapally, Moinabad, and Dasari Bhasker Rao, 39, a security guard from Vedullavalasa in Srikakulam. All four were associated with Green Valley Resort in Moinabad, where Balaraju lived. The lone survivor, Jada Krishna, 25, of Vizianagaram, was rushed to the hospital and is undergoing treatment. He is said to be stable but remains under observation. Preliminary investigations suggested that Chandulal, who was driving, may have dozed off at the wheel. The lorry, reportedly parked on the left side of the road, had no hazard indicators or warning signs. The impact of the crash was severe. The car's front portion was crushed, forcing police to use gas cutters to pry open the doors and retrieve the bodies. While the airbags deployed, they could not save the victims. The five had undertaken a late-night trip to the temple. Balaraju, who is survived by his wife and three daughters, had recently started his own business after working in a chicken shop. "He left around 11.30 pm, saying he was going to meet Chandu. Later, someone from our village called to say they'd seen his car on the ORR," said his grieving brother. The family is seeking government assistance. The bodies were shifted to the Ibrahimpatnam Area Hospital for postmortem. Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt for the lorry driver, who fled the scene.
