33 lightning deaths in past 2 days | Patna News - Times of India

Patna: As many as people lost their lives and three others sustained injuries due to lightning strikes across the state on Friday, said the state disaster management department (SDMD). These fatalities add to a total of 33 deaths reported across the state in the past two days, said the department.In light of the situation, authorities have issued an alert, urging residents to exercise caution and follow safety advisories.According to the data shared by the department on Friday, three deaths were reported from Sheikhpura district, followed by two each in Aurangabad and Vaishali districts, and one each in Bhagalpur, Rohtas, Nalanda, Nawada, Gaya, Patna and Bhojpur. All three injured by lightning were from Nathnagar in Bhagalpur district.The department also issued an alert for two districts, Bhojpur and Nawada, on Friday. It said that there was a high probability of thunderstorms and lightning in various parts of the state over the past two days.
