Indore Tops Sanitation Survey; Bilha Named Cleanest City Under 20,000

Bhopal: After retaining the tag of cleanest city of India for seven times in a row in the annual sanitation surveys (SS), Madhya Pradesh's Indore topped the Super Swachh League, a separate category that honours cities with consistent top-tier performance over multiple survey cycles, in the SS 2024-25. The Swachh Survekshan 2024-25 awards were announced by President Draupadi Murmu at Delhi on Thursday. The survey ranks urban local bodies across India on sanitation indicators such as door-to-door waste collection, source segregation, processing efficiency, and certification levels under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Ten cities from Madhya Pradesh received awards in various categories of the survey. Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh ranked second in the Super Swachh League category. Bhopal ranked second in the million-plus Swachh city category. Seven other towns from Madhya Pradesh received awards in different categories. Chhattisgarh has also emerged as a beacon of cleanliness on the national map. In the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25, as many as seven urban bodies from the state have showcased exceptional performance. Bilha Nagar Panchayat has been ranked the cleanest city in India among towns with a population under 20,000. In the three-ten lakh population category, Bilaspur secured the second spot nationally, while Kumhari ranked third among towns with a population between 20,000 and 50,000. Four other towns in the state have received awards in different categories.
