Hyderabad: Stating that there is neither any evidence nor any link to sustain an atrocity case against chief minister A Revanth Reddy, Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya of Telangana high court on Thursday quashed a 2019 criminal case pending at a special SC/ST Atrocities trial court in LB Nagar related to an FIR registered by the Gachibowli police in 2016. The FIR was the result of a complaint filed by N Peddi Raju, president of Razole Constituency SC Cooperative Housing Society who was claiming a portion of land at survey number 127 of Gopanpally in Serilingampalli mandal. He filed two FIRs, one in 2014 and another in 2016 charging Revanth Reddy, his brother Kondal Reddy and his associate E Laxmaiah with entering into his land, demolishing sheds and abusing him by invoking the name of his caste. However, his complaint and the subsequent police records, charge sheets and all other proceedings clearly admit that Revanth was not present at the scene of alleged offence on the day, Jan 12, 2016, the incident alleged to have taken place. The complainant included the name of Revanth saying that Kondal Reddy and Laxmaiah resorted to the destruction invoking the name of Revanth. The judge perused the record and said that there was no evidence to link Revanth to the case. Public prosecutor Palle Nageswara Rao informed the court that it was the second frivolous attempt by Peddi Raju, who filed the first FIR against Revanth in 2014 which was dismissed by courts. The judge, while allowing the petition filed by Revanth, quashed the criminal case against him before a sessions court in LB Nagar.
