Hyderabad: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials on Thursday included the details of financial irregularities committed by the five accused in the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) into the previously registered Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR). The ED is also likely to seek police custody of the five accused for questioning. Sources on Thursday said that the ED named HCA president A. Jaganmohan Rao, CEO Sunil Kante, HCA treasurer Chouti Jagannatha Srinivasa Rao, Sri Chakra Cricket Club general secretary C. Rajendra Yadav, and his wife, Sri Chakra Cricket Club president Kavitha, as the accused in the financial irregularities. While CID officials on Thursday took custody of the five accused from prison and shifted them to their office, the ED is expected to file a petition seeking their custody for questioning. Previously, the ED had registered cases in connection with irregularities in the HCA related to player selection, fund diversion, illegal tenders and contracts, among other issues. The ED also questioned former cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin, and then HCA office-bearers G. Vinod, Shivlal Yadav, Arshad Ayub, and others. On March 18, 2025, the ED attached properties worth Rs 51 lakh following the raids. During the earlier investigation, the ED found that Rs 90.86 lakh had been received by Surender Agarwal, former vice-president and treasurer of the HCA, and his family members as illegal pecuniary gain from suppliers of cricket balls, bucket chairs, and gym equipment. The HCA had awarded contracts for the supply of cricket balls, bucket chairs, and gym equipment to Sara Sports, Excellent Enterprises, and Body Drench India, respectively, at highly inflated prices. The illicit financial gains received by the suppliers, which were considered Proceeds of Crime (PoC) in the case, were transferred to Surender Agarwal and his family members as quid pro quo.
