Bhubaneswar: India successfully test-fired two short-range ballistic missiles from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Odisha on Thursday. "Short-Range Ballistic Missiles - Prithvi-II and Agni-I - were successfully test-fired from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha on July 17, 2025," the Ministry of Defence in a statement after the test. The launches validated all operational and technical parameters. These tests were conducted under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command (SFC), it said. As per information, the nuclear-capable Agni-I missile was launchd around 6.60 pm, while the test-firing of Prithvi-II missile was conducted from the launch pad no. 3 at the ITR at 8.35 pm. The Prithvi-II missile is a nuclear-capable, surface-to-surface missile with a range of 350 km. It features liquid propulsion twin engines and an advanced inertial guidance system with a manoeuvring trajectory. These tests demonstrate India's operational readiness and validate the reliability of its deterrent component. The successful launches showcase the country's strategic capabilities, with the tests being monitored by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and conducted by the SFC.
