Patna: Bihar Police have made their first arrest in the Patna Paras Hospital murder case, where five armed men entered the hospital and fatally shot Chandan Mishra, a murder convict admitted for treatment on Thursday. The arrested accused has been identified as Tausif. According to NDTV, the police have identified all the accused, and raids are ongoing at multiple locations to nab the other accused. The police are also investigating whether the hospital's security guards were involved in the incident. The five gunmen involved in the firing incident were captured on CCTV installed in the hospital. In the video, the gunmen could be seen entering Mishra's room with guns in their hands. After shooting Mishra, the accused fled from the spot. The victim is a resident of the Buxar district and is an undertrial prisoner. The victim was on parole on the grounds of required medical attention and was admitted to Paras Hospital for treatment, when unidentified assailants barged into the hospital and shot him, Patna SSP Kartikay Sharma said, as reported by ANI. Mishra was a known criminal with dozens of murder cases registered against him. The police suspected the involvement of a rival gang in the firing incident. Hours after the incident, Union Minister and NDA ally Chirag Paswan hit out at the Nitish Kumar-led BJP-JDU government, saying that Bihar's law and order situation has become a cause for concern. Paswan took to X and said, "Law and order in Bihar has become a serious concern today. Murders are happening every day, and the morale of criminals is sky-high. The functioning of the police and administration is beyond comprehension." "The incident of criminals openly firing inside Paras Hospital, located in a residential area of Patna today, is proof that criminals are now directly challenging the law and administration. The rising criminal cases just before the Bihar Legislative Election are worrisome. It is hoped that the administration will soon take concrete and strict steps to bring law and order back on track," he added.
