Recruitment will be through Staff Selection Commission Panaji: Amid the ongoing cash-for-job scam in the state, 1,925 vacancies are being created across government departments for which the advertising process will commence shortly through the Goa Staff Selection Commission. Officials on Sunday said that this year, so far, 36 vacancies for the post of trained English teacher in the education department have been advertised through the Staff Selection Commission and the selected candidates have already received the offer of appointment. A total of 1,540 applications were received for the 36 vacancies advertised in the education department. In 2023, 33 vacancies were advertised by the Commission. The candidates were selected through computer-based recruitment examination. A total of 2,059 applications were received by the Staff Selection Commission for the 33 vacancies advertised including network engineer, laboratory technician, librarian, assistant sub-inspector, technician etc. According to the regulations framed last year to govern the recruitment process, all the departments shall submit requisitions for recruitment once in a year in January. Thereafter, the Commission scrutinises the requisitions and commences the recruitment process. The government, through an open tender, has selected an agency for a complete online solution from the stage of submission of candidate applications to conducting test on computers. As the Staff Selection Commission advertises the posts, a syllabus and scheme of examination is also published along with the advertisement. Thereafter, the examination is held - Computer Based Test (CBT), comprising mainly English language, numeric ability, reasoning ability, test of Konkani language and the subject-specific test as per the post. After clicking submit button on the answer paper, a candidate is able to see his or her score immediately on the computer screen. Within 24 hours of the CBT, the Commission publishes the result on its website and on the same day or the next day, the question paper along with the candidate's answer is made available in the candidate's login. The Commission gives the candidates three days to raise grievances and on the fourth day after the examination, the grievances are sent to experts for their comments. Once the comments are received, the Commission takes a view on the grievances and declares the final result on the eighth day of the test. The Commission's meeting is held on the next day to recommend candidates for the posts and the recommendation is sent to the departments concerned. The entire process of recruitment is completed in two weeks' time.
