Jaipur/Kota/Alwar: Six youths, not five as initially reported, were swept away by the rising waters of the Chambal River Monday afternoon while on a picnic near Hari Singh Village under Digod police station in Kota district. Police said Tuesday, the bodies of two victims were recovered during a search operation. Four others remain missing, and efforts to locate them continue. The six youths, identified as Pachulal Meghwal (40), Ashu Meghwal (18), Ramesh Meghwal (35), Sanjay Meghwal (38), Dharmraj Koli (22), and Devkinand Koli (19), were swept away near the Chambal River while enjoying a picnic Monday afternoon.Bansilal Meghwal (35), one of the group, was rescued soon after the incident by the SDRF squad. However, in a state of shock, Bansilal was unable to recall the exact details, offering conflicting accounts. It wasn't until later that night, after he regained composure, that he confirmed the names of all six friends involved. On Tuesday morning, SDRF and NDRF teams, recovering the bodies of Pachulal Meghwal from about 3km away and Ashu Meghwal from 10km away from the scene. Both bodies were handed over to the families after post-mortem. Separately, two additional bodies were discovered floating in the Chambal River in Keshoraipatan and Lakheri areas of Bundi district. One body was identified as Trilok Yadav (30) from Kota city, who had been missing since Sunday. The other body remains unidentified. Meanwhile, no rain was reported in the area Tuesday, but the Kota Barrage released 3,723 cusecs of water through one open gate.Likewise, a 24-year-male nurse identified as Dev Sharma, drowned in a pond near the Naldehswar Mahadev Temple in Sariska hills under Akbarpur police station in Alwar on Tuesday. Meanwhile, moderate to heavy showers continued across the state Tuesday. Bijoliya in Bhilwara received the highest rainfall of 180 mm in the state.
