New Delhi: Delhi health minister Pankaj Kumar Singh on Tuesday directed Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital officials to operationalise 14 newly installed ICU beds without delay, underscoring the govt's push to expand critical care capacity in public hospitals.During a review meeting with the medical director (MD) and senior officials of GTB Hospital, Singh assessed the progress of ongoing infrastructure and civic improvement projects. He instructed that all civil works within the hospital premises be expedited to avoid delays in patient services. "Healthcare is a fundamental right, not a privilege. Under the leadership of chief minister Rekha Gupta, we are working tirelessly to modernise Delhi's hospitals and make them more patient-centric," said the minister.Among the key directives issued, Singh called for the immediate replacement of a defunct elevator with a modern unit to ensure uninterrupted access across hospital floors. He also instructed that the emergency ward be upgraded with ventilator-based monitoring systems and advanced life-support equipment.To enhance patient safety, the minister asked that all exposed electrical wiring in patient areas be covered promptly.
