New Delhi, Jul 15: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has dismissed recent media reports that claimed it had ordered warning labels on popular Indian snacks like samosa, jalebi and laddoo. The ministry called these reports "misleading, incorrect, and baseless." In a statement, the ministry explained that it had only issued an advisory for workplaces, asking them to display information boards in areas like canteens, lobbies, and meeting rooms. These boards are meant to create awareness about the health risks of eating foods high in hidden fats and sugar, such as weight gain and lifestyle diseases. The advisory is not a directive to food vendors or a ban on Indian snacks. It does not target street food culture, the ministry said.
