Bengaluru: The Karnataka Government has suspended M.M. Hills Wildlife Division Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) Y. Chakrapani for dereliction of duty and negligence in the case of the unnatural death of a tigress and her four cubs at M.M. Hills Wildlife Sanctuary in Chamarajanagar on June 26. Following this, Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre, on July 4, had ordered suspension of M.M. Hills Wildlife Division Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Gajanana Hegde and Range Forest Officer (RFO) Madesh besides recommending the suspension of DCF Chakrapani. The three forest Officers were asked to go on compulsory leave on June 30. Following a report from the inquiry committee, V. Prasanna Kumar, Under Secretary to Government, DP & AR (Services - 5) issued the suspension order, pending enquiry, yesterday.

BENGALURU: The death of two 10-day-old tiger cubs and the disappearance of their mother for the past two days in the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary (CWS), 227 km from Bengaluru, has alarmed the forest department and the conservation community.
