Chennai, July 14 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi, Chief Minister M K Stalin, leaders of various political parties and the Tamil film fraternity, including actors Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, mourned the death of veteran actress B Saroja Devi who passed away in Bengaluru today. In his message, the Governor said "Deeply saddened by the demise of legendary actress Saroja Devi, whose luminous presence and expressive artistry transcended language and time, leaving an indelible mark on Indian cinema." "Her timeless contributions shaped a golden era of film and continue to resonate across generations", Raj Bhavan posted on X. "My heartfelt condolences to her family and countless admirers. Om Shanti!" - Governor Ravi". Mr Stalin in his message, expressed deep anguish and sorrow over her death and recalled the films in which she had acted along side legends like MGR, NTR, Sivaji Ganesh and Gemini Ganesan. She had also acted with present actors like Vijay and Surya. Stating that she had played the lead role with those actors in several hit films of yesteryears, Mr Stalin said she was still celebrated by the people for her several unforgettable roles in over 200 films. Mr Stalin recalled some of the unforgettable and golden songs from films of Saroja Devi, who was called 'Abhinaya Saraswathi' and said she had received various awards including Padma Sri, Padma Bhushan, Indian Government's Lifetime achievement award, Tamil Nadu Government's Kalaimamani award and offered his condolences to the bereaved family members and her coutnless fans.
