Kiran Joneja Slams Affair Rumours About Ramesh Sippy

New Delhi: Veteran actress Kiran Joneja recently addressed longstanding speculation surrounding her marriage to celebrated filmmaker Ramesh Sippy during an interview with Lehren Retro. Known for her grace both on and off screen, Kiran didn't shy away from answering questions about their 33-year-long union, including uncomfortable ones about her husband's past. When asked whether she had any hesitation about marrying someone significantly older and previously married, Kiran responded with clarity and poise. "I haven't heard of any affairs Mr Sippy has had," she firmly stated when questioned about Ramesh's alleged relationships with other women. Despite the interviewer pressing on, suggesting that Sippy "was a colourful man" who had "at least two affairs", Kiran remained composed. "I don't care, maybe it was there," she replied, making it clear that anything before their marriage was irrelevant to her. "But I know this much, that after meeting me, I don't know of any affair till today." Kiran, who tied the knot with Sippy in 1991 when she was 27 and he was 44, stressed that what mattered to her most was his character. "His personality," she said when asked what attracted her to the filmmaker. "He never spoke harshly to anyone. I liked him as a human being." Ramesh Sippy, known for directing classics like Shaan, Shakti and Buniyaad, was previously married and has three children, Rohan, Sonya and Sheena Sippy. While his career continues to be celebrated in Indian cinema, Kiran herself has had a versatile run as an actor, with appearances in iconic shows like Mahabharat and Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, and memorable roles in films such as Khosla Ka Ghosla, Jab We Met, and Fashion. As she looks back at her journey, Kiran Joneja seems to have made peace with public speculation and whispers from the past, choosing instead to focus on the bond she shares with her husband.
