Patna: In a heart-warming interaction on Friday, selected beneficiaries of social security pension scheme shared their personal stories with CM Nitish Kumar via videoconferencing, expressing deep gratitude for the recent hike in monthly pension.The beneficiaries thanked the CM for the nearly threefold increase in the pension amount, calling it a vital lifeline in the face of rising inflation and economic hardship.Rita Devi, a widow from Belaganj panchayat in Purnia district, told the CM that her husband passed away in 2012, leaving her with two children and a dependent mother-in-law. She has been receiving the widow's pension since Dec 2013. "Due to rising prices, it had become difficult to manage the household," she said. "When I heard the CM's voice message announcing the pension increase, I was overjoyed. The extra money will help immensely with my children's education and household expenses. On behalf of all beneficiaries and residents of Purnia, I thank you."Prabhavati Devi, an 80-year-old resident of Gopalpur Panchayat in Koilwar block of Bhojpur district, said she and her husband now receive a combined pension of Rs 2,200 per month.
