Ranchi: The third (monsoon) session of the 6th Jharkhand Legislative Assembly will take place from August 1 to August 7, the cabinet of chief minister Hemant Soren decided during a meeting at the Project Building on Friday. After the meeting, cabinet secretary Vandana Dadel said the assembly session would have five working days.In a positive development for the police, the council of ministers approved nearly Rs 150 crore to buy new four and two-wheelers for better crime management. "As many as 1,255 four-wheelers and 1,697 bikes will be purchased for police stations for law and order work. The cabinet approved Rs 126.38 crore for four-wheelers and Rs 20.41 crore for two-wheelers. The purchasing will take place in two fiscal years," Dadel informed.Moreover, the Hemant govt has approved an increase of 6% dearness allowance (DA) for its employees and retired personnel. The new rate will be applied across different pay grades, for employees and retired personnel, including those receiving state pay scales equivalent to the unrevised Fifth and Sixth Pay Commission Recommendations of the Niti Aayog."The DA has now been increased to 252% from the existing 246%. It will have retrospective effect from January 1, 2025," the cabinet secretary said.According to her, a total of 27 proposals were taken up and approved during the cabinet meeting. Among the approved proposals are allocation of Rs 32.70 crore for strengthening and revamping the 39-km road from Silli to Rangamati of Ranchi district to be taken up by the state rural development department.An administrative approval of Rs 38.89 crore has also been made for reconstruction work, including bridge construction, land acquisition, and utility shifting, of the road from Kumharia More (on the Mesra-Pithoria stretch) to Sangrampur (on the Karmatoli-Ormanjhi road).The ministers also gave their nod to allocate Rs 121.74 crore for widening, strengthening, and reconstruction work, including land acquisition, utility shifting, and plantation on the road from Karmatand (on the Mohanpur-Karmatand RCD road) in Jamtara district. Moreover, the cabinet also paved the way for the reorganisation of 465 posts in the education department and the creation of 318 new posts of block education officers. Some more posts in the grade pay of levels 7 and 8 as required have also been approved, Dadel added.
