Kolkata: A BSF soldier was critically injured in a violent confrontation with suspected Bangladeshi smugglers at the Tarali-1 border outpost in Swarupnagar, North 24 Parganas between late Thursday and early on Friday. The confrontation happened after BSF personnel spotted five or six people gathered on both sides of the border. When the BSF patrol team approached the scene, it was met with a barrage of weapons, including rods and stones.BSF retaliated, causing injuries to some attackers. Two suspects were apprehended while others fled into nearby forests. A subsequent search operation led to the recovery of significant quantities of contraband, including marijuana and Phensedyl from the captured suspects.
