Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Central Division CEN Police have registered a FIR after an alleged cyber fraud attempt targeting Karnataka Upalokayukta Justice K.N. Phaneendra came to light. The incident occurred on July 9, when Justice Phaneendra reportedly received a suspicious phone call from unidentified individuals claiming to be officials from the Data Protection Board of India, based in Mumbai. Introducing themselves as Senior Legal Advisor Deepak Kumar Sharma and Junior Legal Advisor Rahul Kumar Sharma, the callers alleged that illegal activities were being carried out from a mobile number linked to Justice Phaneendra's Aadhaar card. Phaneendra, sensing suspicion, asked the callers to send an official notice instead of making phone calls. He later lodged a formal complaint.
