Jalpaiguri: A Jalpaiguri special Pocso court on Thursday sentenced three men to death for the 2020 rape and murder of a 16-year-old girl.The convicts -- Rahman Ali, Jamirul Haque and Tamirul Haque -- had dumped the victim's body in a septic tank 30km away from the site of the crime. On Aug 10, 2020, the three abducted the Class 10 madrassa student, raped her multiple times over days and strangled her to death. On Aug 11, her family lodged a missing diary with Rajganj PS. They were nabbed on Aug 21. "The convicts strangled the girl to death about three days after the kidnap, when they feared they would be caught," said Jalpaiguri SP Khandbahale Umesh Ganpath.
