New Delhi, July 10 (UNI) A total of 101 Indian students, including 50 women, have been selected for the prestigious Erasmus+ scholarships for a two-year master's programme in Europe, beginning in 2025. With this achievement, India remains the top overall recipient of the scholarship since 2014 and ranks among the top three countries this year, underscoring its deepening academic ties with the European Union, a statement by the Delegation of the EU to India said. Erasmus+ students pursue their studies at a minimum of two European universities and are awarded joint, double, or multiple degrees. The scholarship covers tuition, travel, and living costs, offering students a valuable opportunity to advance their academic and professional development. This year's group of recipients upholds the strong legacy of Indian participation in the Erasmus+ programme, especially in areas aligned with key EU-India priorities like sustainability, innovation, and inclusive growth. The selected students hail from 20 different states across India and will engage in a diverse array of disciplines, including sustainable urban planning, artificial intelligence, migration and public policy, intellectual property law, food security, engineering, sustainable drug development, and safe, reliable nuclear technologies, among others. To mark this achievement, the delegation of the EU to India hosted a pre-departure ceremony here, bringing together the selected scholars, EU member state representatives, alumni, and key stakeholders. Congratulating the students, EU Ambassador to India, Hervé Delphin, said, "Erasmus+ is more than a scholarship, it's a passport for personal and professional growth and a window of opportunities in and with Europe. For over 6,000 Indian students and scholars, it has opened doors to Europe's top universities and its incredible diverse cultures".
