4 killed, 17 injured as bus crashes into stationary trolley in Hanumangarh | Jaipur News - Times of India

Jaipur: Four people were killed and 17 others injured when the bus they were travelling in collided with a stationary sand-laden trolley in Hanumangarh's Sangaria area Wednesday.Locals said the bus, carrying about 30 passengers, was overspeeding and rammed into the parked trolley while trying to avoid a water-filled stretch of road caused by heavy rains.According to police, at least 13 of the injured victims are still undergoing treatment, while four others were discharged after receiving primary care. The mishap occurred near Nagnarana village in Sangaria. The impact of the collision was severe, especially on the conductor's side of the bus, which was completely mangled. Local residents rushed to the spot after hearing a loud explosion-like sound at the time of the crash. Some passengers were trapped in the wreckage and were rescued using a crane. Locals helped in shifting the injured to Sangaria Hospital. The bus was on its way from Hanumangarh to Sangaria when the accident happened. The crash triggered panic at the scene and led to a brief traffic jam on the highway as emergency teams worked to clear the area."Initial findings indicate that due to potholes and waterlogging on one side of the road following rainfall, the bus driver lost control while attempting to steer clear of the flooded section and crashed into the trolley," said a police officer. Police have launched an investigation into the incident. The deceased were identified as Rajveer Singh (52), a resident of Madhya Pradesh; Prithviraj (52); Ravinder Singh (50), the bus conductor from Sriganganagar; and Vinod Tanwar. The three others were residents of Hanumangarh and Sriganganagar.Among the critically injured are Kuldeep (45), the bus driver; Dharampal Matoria (42); Rajendra (40); and others from Sriganganagar, Padampur, Sangaria, and Madhya Pradesh.
