Mumbai: A Shiv Sena legislator beat up an MLA hostel canteen employee on Tuesday night for what he alleged was "stale food". The assault was captured by several people on their phones, but so far no action has been taken against the politician, Sanjay Gaikwad. The legislator representing Buldhana, who was staying at the hostel, had ordered dinner from the canteen. According to people in the know, Gaikwad, claiming that the food served to him in his room was stale, trooped down in a vest and towel, abused the canteen staff and then slapped and repeatedly punched one employee.
