'He's Getting Sacked In The Morning': Gary Neville Takes Cheeky Dig At Pep Guardiola Following FA Cup Draw - News18

Neville took a subtle dig at Manchester City after they were drawn against Salford City in the 3rd round of the FA Cup amid City's poor run of form as they remain winless in their last seven games across all competitions. Manchester United legend and former English defender, Gary Neville has brutally trolled Pep Guardiola on social media. In his latest post on X, Neville took a subtle dig at Manchester City after they were drawn against Salford City in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. The draw, conducted on Monday, resulted in some huge ties. It also saw the League Two side in line to face the defending Premier League champions in their next FA Cup game. Pep Guardiola's boys, in recent times, haven't been anywhere near their top form. Rubbing salt into Manchester City's wounds, Neville shared on X, "He's getting sacked in the morning," tagging Salford City's official account. Neville seemingly hinted at the 'sacked' taunts Guardiola had to endure during his recent trip to Anfield. The fixture began with Cody Gakpo giving the hosts the lead in the 12th minute. In the second half, Manchester City conceded a 78th-minute penalty which Mohammed Salah successfully converted to double Liverpool's lead. After leading 2-0 with the verge of securing an 11-point gap at the top, Liverpool fans started chanting 'Sacked in the morning, you're getting sacked in the morning.' The Manchester City coach responded to the taunts by holding up six fingers to indicate the number of league titles he has won in England. Guardiola, who recently signed a two-year contract extension as Manchester City manager, opened up about the chants in the post-match conference. The Spanish coach admitted he was caught off guard by those chants. "I didn't expect it from the people from Liverpool but it's fine, It's part of the game, and I understand completely. We've had incredible battles together. I have a respect for them," he said as per multiple outlets. Speaking further, Guardiola revealed that it all started with their 2-1 defeat to Brighton on November 9."All the stadiums want to sack me, it started at Brighton. Maybe they are right about the results we've been having," he said. Manchester City haven't won a single match since their 1-0 victory over Southampton in late October. They are winless in their last seven matches, with six defeats and one draw. They now find themselves 11 points behind the league leaders Liverpool this early in the campaign. Manchester City will resume their title defence on Thursday, December 5, against Nottingham Forest. The match will be played at the Etihad Stadium.
