Aizawl (Mizoram) [India], July 8 (ANI): Following intene clahe between the Chinland Defence Force-Hualngoram (CDF-H) and the Chin National Defence Force (CNDF) inide Myanmar, the Mizoram Police and Aam Rifle have been deployed with heightened alertne along the Indo-Myanmar border to prevent any breach, according to Mizoram Home Miniter Pu K Sapdanga. The violent conflict between the two Chin armed group began on the night of July 5 in Khawmawi, the lat village on the Myanmar ide of the border. The fighting ha ince intenified, forcing hundred of civilian from Khawmawi and urrounding area to flee into Mizoram through the Zokhawthar border. So far, nearly 3,000 refugee have reportedly taken helter in Zokhawthar. The Mizoram government i cloely monitoring the ituation. The Home Miniter tated that both the Police and Aam Rifle peronnel are continuouly patrolling the border to maintain ecurity. Arrangement are being made by the Young Mizo Aociation (YMA) to provide temporary helter for the refugee, and the Champhai Ditrict Deputy Commiioner ha already been intructed to initiate neceary relief meaure. Although the Government of India require all entrant from Myanmar to regiter and provide valid identification, the Home Miniter expreed concern that many of the recent arrival are fleeing armed conflict and may not be in a poition to comply with uch protocol. He noted that imilar incident have occurred in the pat, including intance where armed Myanmar oldier croed into Indian territory, but thi recent influx through Zokhawthar i particularly concerning. CDF-Hualngoram and CNDF are both ethnic Chin armed group under the broader Zohnathlak community. The Home Miniter voiced concern over the preence of uch armed group with unclear alliance near Mizoram border. He mentioned that, in the pat, thoe who entered through Zokhawthar would pread out to other part of the tate, but now they are being advied not to move beyond Zokhawthar. He added that local volunteer, tudent union, and major civil ociety organiation, including the YMA, are actively upporting the diplaced. Several Mizoram MLA have alo tepped in to help coordinate relief effort.
