Nagpur: Motorists will have to endure at least three more months of rough rides through Pardi underpass, as waterlogging, further exacerbated by monsoon, has thrown a wrench in its usability -- with civic agencies now caught in a blame game over the unresolved issue. While Mahagenco maintains that the leaking pipeline at the Pardi underpass has been fixed, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) -- the agency responsible for the underpass -- continues to raise red flags. NHAI officials have expressed doubt over Mahagenco's claims, stating that the underpass remains waterlogged and the issue appears far from resolved.Speaking to TOI, a senior NHAI official said it has been pumping out water from the underpass multiple times over the past few weeks just to keep it motorable. Despite their efforts, water -- a mix of rainwater and suspected pipeline leakage -- keeps accumulating, forming a stagnant pool that is now damaging the newly built cement road surface.The underpass, designed to ease traffic congestion in East Nagpur, was inaugurated just months ago. However, early signs of damage are already visible. Road depressions have begun to form due to prolonged exposure to stagnant water. NHAI engineers fear this could lead to potholes and long-term erosion, effectively undoing the work put into building the underpass.Commuters have noticed dips and uneven patches forming in what was expected to be a smooth cement road. "This underpass was meant to solve traffic snarls. Instead, it's turning into a hazard this monsoon," said commuter Kush Patel, an IT professional.The official revealed the core challenge, "We can't officially challenge Mahagenco's claim right now because the pipeline water is mixing with rainwater, making it impossible to pinpoint the source. But the problem clearly persists. Once the rain stops, and there is no external water input, we will know the truth -- if water still gets accumulated in the underpass, the leak isn't fixed."The official also lamented lack of coordination between the agencies. "We've sent multiple communications and reminders, but there's a clear gap in response and accountability.
