Indo-American scientists Manoj Chowdary Vattikuti and Niharikareddy Meenigea have claimed to creat a diagnostic device, the "Diab-Edi Early Predictor" (DEEP), designed to predict the onset of type 2 diabetes up to 10 years ahead. The scientists claim that the device combines machine learning with wearable technology to identify individuals at risk, enabling early intervention. "DEEP uses a wearable sensor synced to a smartphone app to analyze health markers such as glucose levels, lipid profiles, and genetic predispositions. Unlike current diagnostic tools that detect diabetes after onset, this device focuses on identifying risks well in advance," explained the scientists. "Our goal is to enable timely action for individuals and healthcare providers," said Vattikuti, a Senior AiOps specialist at Cardinal Health. Meenigea, a data analyst in the medical field, said their work was driven by personal experiences with the impact of late-stage diabetes on their families. "This marks the beginning of efforts to address preventable health issues through technology," Vattikuti added.
