HYDERABAD: Senior BRS leader T Harish Rao on Sunday demanded that the Congress govt to release water to farmers from the Kannepalli pumphouse. Stating that the Congress govt is in a 'switch-off' mode, the former irrigation minister, while addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan, questioned why, despite floodwaters reaching the state's projects for over a month, the motors have not yet been switched on.Calling the negligence a criminal act, he said the water is being wasted right before their eyes. "There is currently a flow of 73,000 cusecs at Medigadda. Even though all the gates of the project are open, there is an opportunity to switch on the motors at the Kannepally pumphouse and draw water," he said.Harish Rao warned that if there is any further delay, they would not remain silent and threatened to march to Kannepally with thousands of farmers to switch on the motors themselves.He pointed out that the Annaram and Sundilla barrages are safe, as confirmed by minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, and questioned why the govt is facing any difficulty in lifting the water. He said that with the available water, the govt could provide irrigation to millions of acres across 15 districts."If they have a grudge against the BRS, take it out on us.
