Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Due to continuous rainfall in the catchment area, the Bargi Dam in Madhya Pradesh has reached near-full capacity. As a result, 9 gates of the dam have been opened to release excess water. The gates have been opened at an average height of 1.33 meters, and around 52,195 cusecs of water is being released from the dam. Currently, the dam is receiving an inflow of 98,742 cusecs of water. With the water level already reaching 417.40 meters, very close to the target level of 417.50 meters set for July 31, officials have started releasing water to keep the level under control. The total storage capacity of the Bargi Dam is 422.76 meters. With continuous rainfall and the rising inflow, the dam has reached close to its target water level for July. To control the rising level, authorities have started releasing water, which may lead to an increase in the water level of the Narmada River by 5 to 7 meters in the coming hours. In view of this, the district administration has issued a high alert for all areas near the banks of the Narmada River. People living in low-lying and nearby regions have been strictly advised to stay away from the river and avoid using nearby bridges, as the rising water may pose serious risks. Meanwhile, the administration and dam officials are closely monitoring the situation round the clock to ensure that the water level remains under control and to avoid any emergency.
