Army Doctor Helps Woman Deliver Baby At Jhansi Station; Netizens Shower Praise

Jhansi: An Indian Army doctor helped a pregnant woman deliver her baby safely at a railway station in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi district. The doctor, Major Rohit of Military Hospital in Jhansi, was waiting for his train at the station when the woman suddenly went into labour. Responding swiftly, he came forward to help the woman. The incident took place at Veerangana Lakshmibai Jhansi railway station. The woman was travelling on the Panvel-Gorakhpur Express when she experienced labour pain and alighted at the station. Without any delay Major Rohit got down to work and using minimal resources, ensured the woman's safe delivery. The delivery area was cordoned off with a dhoti. With limited resources, including a pocket knife and hair clips, Major Rohit ensured vital medical assistance in this challenging environment. He successfully delivered the baby with the help of railway and ticketing staff present at the station. The mother and the baby are in stable condition and taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance. "Today, an Army doctor, Major Rohit, of Military Hospital, Jhansi, successfully conducted childbirth at the railway station in Jhansi. The doctor present at the station responded swiftly when a pregnant woman went into unexpected labour on the platform. Without any delay and using minimal resources, the Army doctor ensured safe delivery, providing vital medical assistance in a challenging environment. Both the mother and newborn were reported to be in stable condition due to he timely intervention," Indian Army officials told ANI. In a statement, the North Central Railway, applauded the promptness and dedication of railway staff. "Upon receiving information about a female passenger experiencing labour pains on Train No. 15066 (Panvel-Gorakhpur Express) at Veerangana Lakshmibai Jhansi Station, the railway medical team took immediate action and safely conducted the delivery. After the delivery, the woman and the newborn were sent to a nearby hospital by ambulance. Salute to the promptness and dedication of railway staff," the North Central Railway posted on its X handle. Meanwhile, netizens have praised the Army doctor for ensuring the woman's safe delivery. "Incredible presence of mind and dedication. Hats off to Major Rohit for this lifesaving act!", a user wrote while another said, "A soldier is never off duty". Praises like "A Real Hero", "Hats off Army Doctor who went beyond the call of the duty. Blessings to the newly born. I hope other departments will take some motivation from the act of Army doctor," and "Kudos to Major Rohit" have flooded the social media.
