YouTube Warns Creators: Don't Upload Mass-Produced, Repetitive Content Aimed At Farming Views

Hyderabad: Google-owned YouTube has updated its monetisation policy against mass-produced, repetitive content. It said that the YouTube Partner Programme (YPP) has always required content creators to upload "original" and "authentic" content for monetisation. Now, in the upcoming update, YouTube will evaluate mass-produced and repetitive videos and likely reduce its monetary compensation. The update will come into effect from July 15, 2025. YouTube to scrutinise repetitive content This is not the first time that YouTube has required its content creators to upload original content. In a monetisation policy update, YouTube mentioned that creators who make money through the platform should upload original and authentic content. YouTube mentioned two main pointers for creating content on the platform: On a support page, YouTube announced that it is updating its guidelines to better identify mass-produced and repetitive content. This update better reflects what "inauthentic" content looks like today, it added. The video-sharing platform did not mention how it will penalise such content. Notably, the post did not mention whether the upcoming update will apply to AI-generated content, where creators use AI-generated visuals and audio in their videos. YouTube to update sensitive categories in Ads At the same time, YouTube has also rolled out updates to "Ads sensitive" categories, which will also come into effect on July 15, 2025. It has announced the removal of the sensitive category "Bare Skin (Image Only)" in YouTube Studio's Ad categories. Those currently using the setting will have until August 15, 2025, before existing blocks will no longer apply. Users can, however, use other categories like "Reference to Sex" for more control over what ads to run on their YouTube channel.
