Kolkata: Monojit Mishra, the prime accused in the law college gang rape, had asked security guard Pinaki Banerjee to keep the "guards' room ready" with "enough water and a clean bed sheet" a little before committing the crime on June 25 evening. Banerjee, aware of frequent liquor parties held in the guards' room, claimed he was not surprised. The security guard told police during interrogation that he still tried to tell Monojit that college was over for the day but was told to shut up. "Know your limits. Do you think you can survive here without me," Monojit allegedly threatened him.Banerjee claimed that after the three accused entered the guards' room, Zaib Ahmed and Pramit Mukherjee told him to lock the main gate and hand over the keys of the main gate and the guard's room to them and "carry out duty elsewhere". He told cops he went out and had tea. He later saw Zaib fetch an inhaler and even questioned him why he had bought one. Zaib allegedly said someone needed it and told him not to bother about it. The 24-year-old law student had said in her complaint that she was given an inhaler because she was feeling breathless due to a panic attack and then raped. Banerjee was produced before Alipore court on Friday and again remanded in police custody till July 8. The detective department on Friday afternoon brought all four accused to the spot for a reconstruction of the crime. The process was videographed and 3D mapping of the crime scene conducted. A large police force was deployed in and around the college for the purpose. Earlier, the survivor had been taken to the spot for a reconstruction of the sexual assault. "Reconstructing the incident is a crucial part of the investigation. We set an agenda and have fulfilled it," an investigating officer told TOI.On Friday, police also collected a copy of Monojit's salary slip, appointment letter and the attendance register from the college to verify the status of his employment. Cops are also investigating if Monojit, Pramit, Zaib and a few of their close associates were members of a specific social media group and if they shared videos of female students, including visuals of molestation. All members of this group are likely to be questioned and their phones examined. The women's grievance cell of the detective department along with the nine-member SIT is handling the probe.
