Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum district now has a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) unit deployed permanently for the emergency response task. The 30-member unit, deployed on the request of deputy commissioner Karn Satyarthi, consists of four officers and 26 jawans. The NDRF unit will be stationed in all the three districts of the Kolhan division -- West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan and East Singhbhum -- for emergency response as and when it is required.When the roof collapsed at MGMMCH on May 3 and propylene gas leaked from a tanker in Baharagora on July 1 or residential areas submerged and NH-33 got heavily water logged on June 17, the NDRF team was called from Ranchi and Patna, the DC said. "With a team permanently deployed in the district the repsonse would be faster," Satyarthi added.The DC said that rain linked emergencies in the district like flooding and rise in the water level of the rivers in the monsoon demanded NDRF's presence hence a request was made to the department of home, prison and disaster management for the deputation of the force on a permanent basis. NDRF was also deployed tofix water logging at Pardih on National Highway (NH-33) during heavy rain on June 17.
