Hubballi: Around 25 households in UKT Hills, Hubballi, continue to receive foul-smelling, contaminated water. Despite repeated complaints to the corporation, no resolution has been found. Officials suspect pipeline work under the 24x7 drinking water project has led to sewage mixing with drinking water, but the exact cause remains untraced.According to a source, the area comes under Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) Ward 34. Around 80 family members are facing various health issues. There are children suffering from fever after consuming contaminated water. Earlier, the residents were getting clean water. After the L&T project work was carried out, problems arose, alleged residents.Every time water is supplied, they have to release the contaminated water for about one hour. At this time, the water that comes out is black and green. The water is wasted until clean water comes. Due to this, a lot of water is wasted. It is unfortunate that such water is being supplied in our Hubballi, which was awarded the title of Smart City, say residents.Bashir Gangur, a resident of UKT Hills, Hubballi, said that for a year now, sewage water was mixed with drinking water and supplied to their homes. They suffered a lot by drinking this water, and their children were admitted last year. After this incident, they noticed that sewage waste was being supplied. They complained several times, but the problems were not solved. It was brought to the notice of the corporation member, and L&T, but to no avail. Even if they come and check, they cannot find where the sewage water is getting mixed. He urged, "The problem should be solved soon and we should get clean water."Aijaz Kamdolli, another resident, said that after complaints, officials dug the road and checked the pipeline but did not find where the water is mixing with sewage. After supplying the water, the underground water tank turned into a sewage tank. They faced many problems draining the wastewater outside. Due to this, the residents here are facing various problems.Mangala Gowri, HDMC corporator, said that new pipeline work was already done around Vishalnagar. Some minor work is pending, which will be completed within a month, and drinking water will be supplied through the new pipeline. She assured that the problem will be resolved as soon as possible.HN Manjunath, superintendent engineer, KUDIFC, said that they are attending to such problems on contaminated water supply issues as a top priority. He assured that soon the officials will visit and take action to solve the problems.
