JAMMU, July 2: One individual was arrested with a sharp weapon during a hotel checking drive here today. A police official said as part of enhanced security arrangements ahead of the Shri Amarnath Yatra, police have been conducting intensified checking operations across hotels, lodges, and vulnerable spots falling under its jurisdictions. During one such surprise inspection, he said, an alert police party conducted an inspection in Hotel Grand Inn at Sant Market, Jewel, Jammu, and arrested one Gourav Dogra of Jambal Bhatyari, Dansal, Jammu, with a sharp weapon. He said, the individual, who was immediately taken into custody, could not provide a valid justification for carrying the weapon in the hotel premises. As such, he was booked in case FIR number 88/2025 under section 4/25 Arms Act registered at Police Station Nowabad and further investigation taken up to ascertain the motive and possible links to any criminal activity, he said.
