FYJC students told to confirm seats, then apply for APAAR | Pune News - Times of India

Pune: Students who have applied for first year junior college (FYJC, Std XI) and do not possess the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) identification can still confirm their admissions in the allotted colleges. The APAAR identification is used to manage and track academic credits. Many students were sent back by colleges to register first for APAAR and then return for confirmation of their admissions. Students approached the deputy director of education (Pune region) and the committee handling the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for FYJC in Maharashtra received several complaints from parents and students. The panel has now instructed all colleges to admit students based on their allocation irrespective of APAAR and told students to get the registration done from their respective schools at the earliest.Sujata Pingale, a parent seeking admission for her son, Tejas, in a Nigdi college, said, "Our first preference was for the college we were allotted. When we went there, the admission officials sent us back to register for an APAAR ID."Shyam Lakde from Kothrud said that when he and his daughter went to the allotted college for confirmation, they also had to return due to the lack of an Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID. Secondary and higher secondary director and head of the CAP committee Mahesh Palkar held an urgent meeting of all the officials on Monday. Palkar said, "It takes barely an hour to create an APAAR ID. Therefore, students can create it immediately from school. However, if a student does not have an ID and has got admission in a college in the first list, he or she can finish the admission process and then apply for the APAAR ID."
