Jodhpur: The Rajasthan High Court Tuesday extended rape convict Asaram's interim bail until July 9, following an extension granted to him in a similar case by the Gujarat High Court last week that prolonged his bail until July 7.The division bench of Justice Dinesh Mehta and Justice Vineet Kumar Mathur granted the extension after Asaram's legal team requested additional time for completing documentary formalities. This comes as a continuation of the interim bail initially granted to him on April 7 by the high court's principal seat at Jodhpur.The prosecution opposed the extension, alleging that Asaram has been moving between hospitals and visiting his ashrams during his interim bail period, suggesting attempts to avoid returning to jail. Despite these objections, the court granted partial relief, extending his bail by six days.
