Patna: A bomb threat sent through email to the authorities of Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport in Patna sparked panic on Monday night. The threat, which was issued from an encrypted email service based in Estonia to the director of the airport, is the second within a fortnight and third such one in just over a year. The threat email triggered a thorough search by security personnel though no bomb was found. City SP Central, Diksha Yadav said taking a serious view, the airport's bomb threat assessment committee engaged personnel who searched every nook and corner of the airport. The investigation continued till late Monday night. "A case has been registered and EOU's cyber cell has been asked to investigate the email. Patna police are also investigating the matter at its level. Earlier also on June 18, 2024, Patna airport was threatened to be blown up by email," she said. Earlier, airport security officer Vicky Singh took up the matter with the airport police station. A case has been registered there. The encrypted email service company of Estonia has been providing email service since 2024. It does not give information directly to the police of any country. It gives information only after the order of the Estonian court. This is written in the terms and conditions of the company. Sources said Patna Police are considering approaching the CBI under Mutual Legal Assistant Status. In case, Virtual Private Network (VPN) is used in the email, then it will be a big challenge for the police to identify the people who were involved.
