Bhopal: In an effort to streamline passenger fare structure and enhance financial sustainability, the Ministry of Railways has announced a rationalization of base fares for passenger trains, effective July 1, 2025. The revised fares are based on the updated passenger fare table issued by the Indian Railways Conference Association (IRCA). Key Highlights of the Fare Revision: * No change in fares for urban/suburban travel (single journey or season tickets). * In non-AC general class (non-suburban services), the fare has been marginally increased: * No hike for travel up to 500 km * Rs 5 increase for 501-1500 km * Rs 10 for 1501-2500 km * Rs 15 for 2501-3000 km In Sleeper and First Class (non-AC), fare increased by 0.5 paisa per km. In Mail/Express (non-AC) categories: All classes (Second, Sleeper, First) will see a 1 paisa/km hike. In AC categories (AC Chair Car, AC 3-Tier, Executive, etc.), the hike is 2 paise/km. These revised fares will also apply to premium and special trains such as Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Vande Bharat, Tejas, Humsafar, and others. No Changes in Additional Charges: Reservation fees, superfast surcharges, GST, and fare rounding rules remain unchanged. The new fares apply only to tickets booked on or after July 1, 2025.
