Gurgaon: A 24-year-old man was arrested on Monday for allegedly stabbing his neighbour in the middle of a vegetable market in Ghata village. Police said the attack was an act of revenge after the accused was earlier beaten up by the victim for harassing his sister-in-law. The accused, identified as Bobby, a native of Mahoba district, UP, was nabbed from Delhi's Vikaspuri. Police also recovered the knife used in the crime.According to police, the Emergency Response Vehicle team of Sector 56 police received information about a stabbing in Ghata village around 7:30 PM on June 29. Upon reaching the scene, the police found a man lying motionless on his back with visible stab wounds on the neck and chest.The deceased was identified as Rajdev Kumar, a 26-year-old daily wage labourer from Saharsa district, Bihar. He lived in makeshift huts in Ghata village along with his wife and a relative named Ghamandi Lal.Rajdev's wife, who witnessed the incident, told police that Bobby, a fellow labourer from their village settlement, harassed Ghamandi Lal's sister Chanda on June 27. The harassment led to a confrontation, during which Rajdev and Ghamandi beat up Bobby."Two days later, while Rajdev and his wife were returning from work, Bobby, along with three to four others, allegedly ambushed them and stabbed Rajdev with a sharp weapon. When Rajdev's wife tried to intervene, Bobby punched her and pushed her aside," SHO Sector 56, Vinod said.Rajdev attempted to flee but collapsed from his injuries. As his wife screamed for help, nearby people rushed to the scene, prompting Bobby and his associates to flee, police said.Following a complaint by the victim's wife, police registered a case under sections of murder and common intention of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Forensic teams, fingerprint experts, and a duty magistrate were called to inspect the scene. The body was sent for postmortem to the mortuary.Police said Bobby will be produced in court, and further investigation is underway to identify and arrest the remaining accused.
