UP launches campaign to reconnect kids with formal schooling | Lucknow News - Times of India

Lucknow: Ensuring that every child has access to school, the state govt is launching the 'School Har Din Aaye Abhiyan' (SHARDA) from July 1.A statewide household survey will be conducted during academic session 2025-26 to identify and reconnect children with formal schooling.The initiative will be carried out in phases, with the first survey running from July 1 to July 31, and the second from Aug 16 to Sep 15. All rural and urban households, including slums, brick kilns, mines, hotels, tribal regions, and migrant communities, will be included in the survey to find and enrol children aged 6-14 years. Children who were never enrolled or were absent for more than 30 days, scoring less than 35% on annual assessments, will be considered dropouts. These children will be placed in age-appropriate classes and given specialised training. School-level teams, including headmasters, teachers, Shiksha Mitras, instructors, BTC trainees, NGO volunteers, and other department staff, will be responsible for conducting the survey. The areas will be divided among teams to ensure complete coverage and timely recording of every child's details.Identified children will receive intensive, curriculum-based training, with baseline assessments conducted via the SHARDA app. Quarterly assessments will follow in Oct, Jan, and March 2026. Condensed textbooks and essential learning materials will be provided by trained nodal teachers and volunteers.Children from migrant families will receive migration certificates to facilitate enrolment in new locations. Teachers will conduct home visits and parent-teacher interactions to ensure attendance and retention. Additionally, children from impoverished families will be linked to social welfare schemes to stabilise their education.Basic education minister Sandeep Singh said, "The Uttar Pradesh govt believes that education is a right and a guarantee for every child's future. Our goal is to ensure no child is left out of school."
