New Delhi, Jun 30: Passengers travelling in various classes of Indian Railways will see revised fares from July 1, 2025, as the Ministry of Railways has announced a rationalisation of basic ticket prices. While there is no fare increase for journeys up to 500 km in the ordinary class, hikes of ₹5, ₹10, and ₹15 will apply for longer distances in a phased manner, respectively. The revision also includes marginal increases across other travel classes, including AC and mail/express services. The fare adjustment, aimed at enhancing the financial sustainability of passenger services, follows the release of the updated Passenger Fare Table by the Indian Railway Conference Association (IRCA). It will be effective for tickets booked on or after July 1. The revised fare structure also extends to premium and special train services such as Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Vande Bharat, Tejas, Humsafar, Amrit Bharat, and others. Ordinary non-suburban services will also be covered under the new rates. However, reservation fees, superfast surcharges, and other supplementary charges remain unchanged. Goods and Services Tax (GST) will continue to be applied per existing norms, and fare rounding-off principles will remain as per current rules. Tickets issued before July 1 will be honoured at the old fare with no retrospective adjustment. The revised fares will be applicable only to bookings made on or after the implementation date. Ticketing systems such as PRS (Passenger Reservation System), UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System), and manual counters are being updated to reflect the new fares.
