Four people have been arrested in connection with the case. While three people, including Monojit Mishra, the prime accused who is a former leader of the Trinamool Congress's student wing and an ex-student of the college, Zaib Ahmed and Pramit Mukherjee were arrested earlier, Pinaki Banerjee, a security guard at the college, was arrested on Saturday. While the TMC has claimed that Mishra is no longer associated with the party, Ahmed and Mukherjee are allegedly members of the college's Trinamool Chhatra Parishad unit and Mishra's associates.
