RAMBAN, June 28: A truck veered off the road and landed in a deep gorge near Nachlana on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Banihal area of mountainous Ramban district this morning leaving two persons on-board dead. Follow the Daily Excelsior channel on WhatsApp The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK14J-7550 was moving towards Srinagar from Jammu when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into a gorge leaving both the driver and his helper dead on the spot. Click here to watch video The deceased driver was identified as Raju Bhat, 40, son of Desraj Bhat, resident of Udhampur while his helper was identified as Suraj Kumar, 35, son of Ramlal resident of Malhaat near Chopra Shop, Udhampur. Immediately after the accident local volunteers along with cops started a rescue operation and retrieved the bodies from the damaged truck and shifted them to Sub District Hospital Banihal for post-mortem and other legal formalities after which the bodies were handed over to family members of the deceased for last rites. Police has registered a case in this regard and started investigation.
