Vaishnaw seeks state's help on pending Metro projects | Kolkata News - Times of India

Kolkata: Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday sought the state's cooperation regarding various pending railway works here while mentioning hurdles faced in implementing several Metro projects. He was at the newly upgraded Santragachi railway station to virtually flag off the first local train between Howrah and Purulia via Bankura and Masagram."The chief minister should rise above politics and allow the railway projects to happen. Issues like traffic blocks have delayed the Metro work at Chingrighata, where pillars have been built but cannot be connected," Vaishnaw said, referring to the New Garia-Airport corridor which is stuck since Feb.The minister stated that work on the Kidderpore Metro station, part of the Joka-Esplanade corridor, had been stalled since 2020 due to delay in allocation of 800 sqm of land. A KMC official, however, said that the corporation on Thursday gave Metro Railway the NOC to use land inside Alipore Bodyguard Lines.
