Chennai: Following the dismissal of anticipatory bail plea of Puratchi Bharatham MLA Poovai Jaganmoorthy in a case of abduction of a 17-year-old boy from Thiruvalangadu, CB-CID have launched a coordinated search operation to arrest him. CB-CID's four special teams, each led by an assistant commissioner of police, are scanning multiple locations across Tamil Nadu, including offices and residences of key functionaries of the Puratchi Bharatham party.The case relates to an inter-caste marrige of Dhanush of Thiruvalangadu in Tiruvallur district and Vijayashree of Theni district against the wishes of the latter's family. On May 10, Dhanush's 17-year-old younger brother was kidnapped from his house. Probe was revealed that Vijayashree's father, Vanaraja, approached MLA Jaganmoorthy to "rescue" his daughter.Based on a complaint by the boy's mother, the Thiruvalangadu police registered a case and began inquiries. They discovered that a vehicle belonging to additional director-deneral of police H M Jayaram was used to kidnap him. So far, five people including a former woman inspector and a lawyer, have been arrested. While Jayaram has been suspended from service, Jaganmoorthy is now absconding.
